Pulse-poundin', nitro-burnin' funny-car action! You'll pay for a whole seat... but you'll only use The EDGE!
Wait. Start over. (Thanx to
geckoman for the shtick.)
Yesterday I played piano at a rest home in Holyoke. That went well. Perhaps I can play more, and get money for it. We shall see. Then we went and got my car from Saturn -- rear wiper's back, at last! -- and then ate buffet lunch at Pintu's, after driving around and failing to find the Lebanon cafe in Springfield, which we'd decided last week we'd eat at this week. Maybe next week.
We were all good and tired at the end of the day, even though I probably put in some two or three hours of real nappage in the afternoon, and so did Sarah. I don't know what Cathy did, as I was asleep. Though tired, I moped around down here and listened to Excursions on KRFC for most of the show before adjourning to Slumberland.
I had the coolest dream. I was with some people, and had dropped something in the water, so I borrowed an ultraviolet light, which made it glow. There were other things glowing, and I started pulling all kinds of swell stuff out of there. Books. Electronics. All in fine working order. I think one of the books was by Nixon, though not one a title that's available when I'm awake. At any rate, some of the items were in the bedroom of the son of some family. I went and looked at them, and one of them was some sort of key to a large treasure. That's when the dream really took off. It became a race between two groups -- it seems to have split the family down the middle -- including a strong-willed young daughter and some very large cats. As it went on, more people ended up getting sucked into the competition, including a bounty-hunter type. I even saw Nixon approaching us at one point.
Then I lost the thread. Somehow, it became known that the story I was in was available on DVD (and View-Master), and either this killed the reality of it enough to wake me up, or it happened because I was waking up anyway. There I was, lying in bed with my eyes closed, trying against hope to return to the dream and find out how it came out. Oh, well.
In the waking world, I sorted the last 500 or so videotapes into boxes, stacked and labeled in the Library. 36 boxes, each holding (at most) 44 tapes, so there have to be... well, I multiplied it out, but shame prevents me from saying any more. I noted that there's some good viewing in there, if I ever have time again to watch stuff. I think my next project will be to put "The Mascot" on a DVD so that I can then put it on my iPod. That's some mighty fine viewing, especially the climactic "Devil's Ball" which is often seen all by itself. It's what I saw on Night Flight, years ago, that alerted me to the existence of Ladislas Starewicz.
Besides putting the tapes into the boxes, I also had to assemble the boxes. Sarah wanted to help, and was keen on putting boxes (and lids) together. I gave in to her entreaties and showed her what to do. Darn if she didn't do a nice job! The kid really impresses me sometimes. She made three boxes all in all, and they were three boxes (and lids) that I didn't have to make. Hooray!
So now the room is looking as good as it's looked since we started loading stuff into it. There is floor room, just in time for
ssprince to spend tomorrow night with us. I'll be working until 6, as they are keen on having me do some overtime and try to clear up the backlog. Then on Tuesday, it's "Root Canal, Part Trois," which will take me away from work. Well, unless I can reschedule it tomorrow, and I'll try to. The work is at a vital stage. If I can just do three things in a row without one of them turning into a quagmire, it would be so... nice.
