heifetz scrapes it

The story goes that a friend asked Picasso to autograph a picture. Picasso looked at it and pronounced it a fake. "But Pablo!" the friend said, "I saw you paint this myself!" The artist replied, "I can paint fake Picassos as good as anybody."
Some beautiful soul has posted a scene of excruciating musicianship by the great Jascha Heifetz, mercilessly portraying a student audition he claimed to have witnessed. It's a compendium of wrong things you can do to a violin, played with a perfectly straight face (which is more than his accompanist or audience could maintain). One of the concertos of Vieuxtemps, according to comments, and perhaps the composer would recognize some of it.
( abandon hope, all ye who go past the cut )
