the best shot

I've talked about this one before, and I'll cheerfully admit that it's been on my iPod for a couple of years. It's the most bellicose, yet empty, bleat yet unleashed on our enemies abroad -- even with two Bushes in the White House, and all that entails, it hasn't yet been topped.
It's Roger Hallmark and the Thrasher Brothers performing "A Message to Khomeini." It's really big on the bragging ("We're gonna take our BB guns / and blow your buns to the sun / Just our Boy Scouts could wipe you out!") and tiny-brained ethnic insults ("You and your two-camel garage!"), and in the end, it's about as effective as the raspberry that the narrator declares is "his best shot." How many years was it, after this came out, that Khomeini finally died of old age, surrounded by his followers?
I even offered to send my own mp3 of this to WFMU, but I guess they had their own copy. Nice to see they recognize its inverse merit as well. As a bonus, the flip side is there too. I may have listened to it one time, or part of one time.
Oh yeah, it has the obligatory ululations, followed by a noise like something getting hit. I guess that represents a joke of some sort.
"Some day soon, Khomeini, you'll burn one flag too many..." Yeah. Sure. Listen to this one. It's oddly hypnotic, and a counter-example to anybody who sees injustice and thinks a song will have some profound effect. Then again, it's really more of a rap than a song.
