cartoon vinyl

A post at WFMU's Beware of the Blog contains a droolworthy cavalcade of 45s and LPs based on our Saturday Morning cartoon chums. It is of a breadth and depth I can't do justice to this morning, and I'm linking it here so I can check into it later. I already have a lot of these on my iPod (though so far it has failed to make me young again, somehow). There are some neat visuals too:

So, Kip, here it is! You other guys might find something interesting here too.

For me the real find was buying a copy of the LP version of Jerry Lewis' "Cinderfella" a few years ago, and transferring it to the digital domain so that I could hear it again after forty-plus years. It is quite different from the movie, with several songs originally intended but ultimately cut from same. The most noticeable difference is that the Fairy Godfather is played by a very understated Del Moore (one of Lewis' longtime friends) rather than a "woo-hoo!"ing Ed Wynn as in the film.
