Mark Evanier has a post about fake cels and cartoon art, and parenthetically mentions "fake 'original Charles Schulz' drawings" on eBay. So I went to eBay and looked, there were two shaky Snoopys (something he mentioned in a generic way), and this gem, billed as an original drawing of Sally.

Hey, why wouldn't you trust a dealer with that kind of perception?

Could just be having a bad hair, eyes, nose, and shape-of-head day, I suppose.

I won this item. The seller emailed this link after I had questions about it and the seller stated he had recieved a negaive email in nature about this item. He was very honest and stated blogging was going on about this art piece and that the image was illegally taken off ebay. After talking to the seller after the auction, I was very satisfied with answers to my questions. I questioned if this was a sally drawing or was verified as one and his response was that it was verified as a Schulz drawing. He had mistakenly added Sally to the Description. The seller also provided a scan of documentation from the verification and insurance proof on this item at my request. When I recieve the item I will have it looked at myself and will post the results. The seller also guaranteed the item personally and would provide refund if i would require one for any reason.

Nowhere do I say that this particular drawing is not Schulz. I've said it's not Sally. As to "illegally taken off ebay," I don't see any notices about linking to an image. It's entirely possible Schulz really drew the work, and that the hurried nature of the work is due merely to him being tired and possibly suspecting that the person asking for it intends only to try and retail it as soon as possible for as much as he can get.
