Sarah felt better after Friday, so on Saturday, we went out for Panera's in the morning. In the afternoon, we finally went to a used book store that had a volume I had been wanting for a while. When we got there, there was a sign up that they were on vacation, so I guess I'll try back on Friday. I could see that the book was still there.

This morning Sarah and I made blueberry muffins. All went well, with no disasters, humorous or otherwise.

Later we all went to a local ice rink for some skating, which Sarah wanted to do. They asked me what kind of skates I wanted: figure or hockey. I said, whatever's the most basic, and they gave me hockey. We took turns being with Sarah while the other circumnavigated the rink. (Anybody know how much distance you cover each time you circle a municipal skating rink? Nobody there had any idea.) Sarah was willing to try to go for a ways, falling over and over but always getting back up without apparently being discouraged. We'd get a certain distance, and then she'd want to go back to the gate, so we'd go against traffic until we were back to status quo. I must have gone around by myself five or possibly even six times, once or twice without even going to the rail for rest and stability. I didn't fall down once, though I went into a sort of jerky flailing to keep on my skates a couple of times, and imagined that I was a Dave Berg character with those 'spaz lines' drawn around my upper body. I thought of sneaking in one more lap, but my shins vetoed the idea. They felt as tired as if I had done a mile on the treadmill, which I am now doing at a dizzying pace of four fake miles per hour. The shins are where I feel that. Also in the boredom area. Still stretching at night for my lower back, too.

I'll be putting in three shifts at WFCR this week, nine to one on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Something to get me out of the house. I keep applying for jobs, but here I still am. The week after that, I'll be taking a road trip with [livejournal.com profile] gerisullivan and a pal from out of town (more on that later).

It's been warm this weekend, up to about 50, and it'll be warmer in the week to come. Neighbor across the street says after March 15, the snow is pretty much over, usually. Works for me, I guess. The back yard is a remarkably sodden-looking pit with all the melting that's been going on. Where are the snows of yesteryear? Looks like they're still in front of the house, but that'll change.
