Alex Toth, one of the coolest classic comic artists (and designer of several animated TV shows like Super Friends), has passed on at 78. Over the years, his style made it all look so easy. I think my favorite work of his might be the Zorro comics published by Dell for the Disney TV series. We had him until yesterday, now he's gone.

Another rarity (like the Alex Toth item, this came to me via Amid Amidi & Jerry Beck's blog Cartoon Brew), this is an eight-minute excerpt from the 1941 Chinese animated feature PRINCESS IRON FAN. As Jerry notes, it's interesting for the extensive use of rotoscoping. Too bad it includes three whole minutes of opening credits in which all we see are screens full of names, but it's still worth seeing.
