unscratchable itch

I've had a song going through my head all day. It's a song that was written by students, including me, in a grade school class, with guidance by the teacher. Fifth grade, maybe. The teacher asked for a melody and I contributed the first snatch of tune. "Should the whole song go that way?" she asked. "Sure," I said, satisfied with the couple of measures I'd kicked in. That wasn't the answer she was looking for, and someone else put in a descending scale pattern with the same dotted rhythm. Then it was resolved in a neat little phrase that may have come from the teacher.
We brainstormed lyrics. It was for Hallowe'en, so they were couplets that fit the rhythm. Stuff like, "Goblins crying, witches flying." It ended with "That's why Hallowe'en is so much fun."
So it's been going through my head all day, minus lyrics, except for the ending. I can't really remember any of the couplets. Since I can't remember, I guess, it just keeps going around. I can't search online and find the words. I doubt they went any further than our class. I don't think anybody but me remembers the thing. It's gone like last year's icicles.
Maybe I'll put new words in. That line about goblins and witches works okay. It's pretty similar to whatever was really in there. Not tonight, though. I'm kind of tired.
