I started out on LJ by carefully picking people I knew or had some online history with. I have added people when I became aware of who they were. Sometimes people have friended me, and after sniffing at their LJ or user info, I've ended up friending them back. And -- as you know, Bob -- people sometimes have somewhat obscure handles. ([livejournal.com profile] gerisullivan? [livejournal.com profile] budwebster? Who are these people? What do they have to hide?) The result is that I have friends I can't identify. Did I forget? Did I blank out? Or is my personal magnetism so great that I've started attracting friends from other solar systems?

So here's my meme, which I have just made up. If you suspect or have good reason to believe I don't know who you are, uncloak! At least give me a clue or something. A first name and location, a web page, or perhaps a large check with your address on it would suffice. If I was fresher and not wanting to go out and (gasp) do something today, I'd make a specific list of who I know I know. If your handle is your name, I probably know who you are. If I've met you in person and have referred to it here, I probably know. If you are from the Newport News area, I probably know. If I met you at the LJ panel at Pi-Con, I know.

Otherwise, give a senile fella with stitches on his head (cheap ploy for sympathy there) a break. You don't have to violate your own privacy, but if we've never met and you found my journal through a mutual friend, just say so. If you are really me, posting in my own sleep, just say so. If you're a fourth-dimensional creature who will destroy the solar system on being exposed, well, you can keep your secret a while longer.

Happy birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] rtred and [livejournal.com profile] dragonnette. One of you should be getting a phone call today.

If there were Thumbs in Space, and they got mad at each other, there would be...

THUMB WARS!

In my opinion, this is the best retelling of Star Wars. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll kiss three bucks good... oh, yeah. Well, HARDWARE WARS was good, too, but I really prefer this. (Which reminds me, if you are wondering what Ernie Fosselius is up to now, check out bOINGbOING.

"I escaped somehow. Let's go!"
