Crash! Bam! Pow! Batman References Not Just For Comic Con Reports Any More!
It is a truth univerally acknowledged that a literary work of great merit and honoured fame must be in want of a Batman reference.

On the RPGnet Forums, this need is met, with results one might best characterise as lung-searingly hilarious, in the thread [Game] Take a famous quote and make it about Batman!.
No, faith, my son, wish not a man from the Watchtower.
God's peace! I would not lose a Bataranging
As one man more methinks would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Nightwing, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let them depart; their grapple cable shall be made,
And crowns for convoy put into their utility belt;
We would not die in that hero's company
That fears their fellowship to die with us.
This state is call'd the Land of No Man.
They that outlives this state, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this land is nam'd,
And rouse them at the name of Gotham.
They that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'I was in No Man's Land.'
Then will he strip his kevlar sleeve and show his scars,
And say 'These wounds I had at Batman's side.'
Old folk forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But they'll remember, with advantages,
What feats they did these days. Then shall our names,
Familiar in their mouths as household words-
Batman the Knight, Robin and Azrael,
Batgirl and Spoiler, Nightwing and Oracle -
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And bright Batsignal shall ne'er shine,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of Batfolk;
For they to-day that sheds their blood with me
Shall be my sidekick; be they ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle their condition;
And gentlemen in Metropolis now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their powers cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us in Gotham's No Man's Land!

This was singled out by the blogger quoted above, but I looked at all sixteen pages of the thread and still liked it best, despite my intention of finding something different to showcase. This is an excerpt. Via GWOG, brought to my attention by mike w in RASFF.

To the Edsel, my favorite classic automobile; fifty years old this week. Thanks to bOINGbOING for the tip.

Ranger... Pacer... Corsair... Citation... I love the sound of those names. Did you know they originally came with push-button transmission? Every few years, I'd see one out in the wild. There was one for sale for months that I could see from my school bus. Something like $50 -- which might as well have been five thousand.

Back in the 70s, my friend Scott did a drawing of one, captioned "The Car Of the Future." I can't do better than that.
