Manybooks.com turned out to be better than Project Gutenberg in some respects, particularly in that it has more or less the same books, already turned into iPod "notes" format. When I realized this, I went wild, transferring all the Shakespeare poems and plays, all the W.S. Gilbert they had, English poetry, some Marlowe, and more, to my iPod. Then I tried to read it and found blank directories. Wah!

A suspicion dawned, and by experiment I found that it accepted 1000 "notes" (of 4k each), and stonewalled the rest. A 60 GB pod only lets you put in 40k of screen-readable text. I went to work cutting what I had put in down to a manageable size. The rest are stored in another directory on the iPod. The room they take up is negligible.

Anybody know how to get more than 1000 files in the Notes on an iPod? Most books take between 100 and 300, though some take more (Pride and Prejudice is big: I'll just carry a book for that one). I'd be happy to know how to do that, if someone there knows. Thanks, if so.
