I have to take exception to two things: While "The Great Gildersleeve" was variable over the years, the best episodes -- and there are dozens of them from the Harold Peary years -- are gangbusters.

And I also want to say that the real star of the "Phil Harris/Alice Faye Show" was Elliott Lewis.
