First I tried to herd the speck toward the drain for proper disposal. Then I suddenly thought it might be a spider. I looked around quickly -- time being of the essence -- and found the sponge to gently pick it up with. A closer myopic examination revealed that it might be a spider. No signs of life. I sadly held it over the trash outside (still in the shower), and it went down on a little thread. Hey, dead spiders don't do that! I hopefully left it on the floor outside the stall. When I checked a little later, it was still there. When I left the shower, it was gone.

I'm hoping this means she made a recovery. I like spiders.

While I was moving downed wood out of my sister's field (trash wood, should be moved before plants grow high, in preparation for yearly mowing in the fall) I saw some pretty big spiders. The thickest pieces I was trucking away to a burn pile (after some help from a neighbor with chainsaw) while just hauling the smaller stuff & needles into the woods... I would prop the spider homes against a tree trunk to give them a day or two to get used to leaving. But how many might have got in the car and still be in there?? Times one misses a truck.

My bathtub is where spiders must have their disco - I tend to find a straggler once or twice a week. I give them cabfare and a lift to the backyard.
