I have to use it for this job. It is a requirement. The 2004 version was completely nuts, so we got the 2011 version in order to finish this job. It is still nuts. For god's sake, please help me.

When I try to insert a page break to start a new page (it is required that the document have 1" margins all round), it inserts the break at the top of the page, not where the cursor is. The text runs right off the bottom of the page, ignoring the margins that have been set, and no new page appears.

I've gone to their help. It blandly assures me that I can make a new page by putting a page break in at the margin. This does not work. Over and over, it does not work. From 2004 to 2011 it does not work.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, SOMEBODY HELP ME. Sorted. See below.

[Edited to reduce typesize. Things have gotten better. Not good, but the job is doable now, in a tedious sort of way. Pathetic babbling thanks to everybody who helped.]

Additional update 4/28: I'm using the "end section" breaks now, because they're quick and easy to put in — thanks for those, gang! I'm still having to fix the italics by hand. My sister Martha suggested dyeing them red in the source text, and I have done so. When this is brought over, it still loses the italic/non-italic distinction, but the type is still red! If Word could search for attributes, it would take a single command to change all those to black italics, but it doesn't. Still, this has made finding the text that needs to be changed almost automatic, so hooray! I might finish this a day sooner than anticipated.
